Cybersecurity Program is a “top 3” company-wide priority at Hudson MX

After decades spent protecting systems and data at healthcare, finance, and retail companies like Visa and Macy’s, I was ready for a new challenge. I wanted to join a team building a new, modern style platform where we could layer in the most cutting edge security features from the get-go. I picked Hudson MX because its leaders clearly understand the importance of my role and demonstrate a fierce desire to represent the cybersecurity “gold standard” in the media ecosystem.

We understand the critical nature and function of cybersecurity. Clients rely on our solutions as their media accounting system of record. As such, they must have total confidence that Hudson MX operates securely and maintains the integrity of their data. The threat landscape is ever-changing and as new technologies, vendors, and clients enter the mix we must understand the potential impact such change has on our risk profile. Our Cybersecurity Program helps us do just that. Additionally, this program ensures that we are attending to all of the small things that contribute to a secure operation.

Security must always keep pace with innovation. Delivering value and results for our customers is our top priority—but practices must be in place across the organization to ensure that we continue to innovate securely. Our Cybersecurity Program guides day-to-day activities in alignment with globally recognized standards. The result is that each of us understands our role and what specific behaviors are expected of us. Most successful attacks are the result of a breakdown in these behaviors.

Safeguards require knowledge, planning, and strict compliance. For example, a common attack has the intruder obtaining access credentials (a username and password), typically through social engineering, and then taking advantage of known vulnerabilities within an environment. Two behavioral failures, clicking on that phishing email and not patching a system with a known vulnerability, are all it takes to allow a breach to occur. Adherence to the policy and procedure guidelines of our Cybersecurity Program is one way to prevent such failures.

Layers of integrated security features are baked right into our architecture. Our Cybersecurity Program also mitigates the risk of successful attacks by applying a defense-in-depth approach to securing our environment. This means that layers of protection are built into our architecture. Elements include logging, monitoring, access management, vulnerability management, threat profile management, data encryption, configuration management, and security training/awareness. Each layer is designed to support the others and bolster our overall security posture.

A new, modern platform can better handle today’s security threats. As we continue to build out our suite of solutions, we do so on a modern platform that is not encumbered by years of technical and security debt. By paying attention to fundamental security practices and applying the inherent advantages of our infrastructure, Hudson MX delivers security as a key feature of our solutions and a differentiator versus our competitors.
